DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Andreas Moll (Australian Synchrotron)\, Ron Bosworth
  (Australian Synchrotron)\, Hausermann Daniel (Australian Synchrotron)\, S
herry Mayo (CSIRO)\, Andrew Stevenson (Australian Synchrotron/ CSIRO)\, An
ton Maksimenko (Australian Synchrotron)\, Chris Hall (Australian Synchrotr
on)\n\nImaging and Medical Beamline CT workshop: CT@IMBL-2019\n\nThanks f
or you interest in the CT workshop.\n\nThe registration limit has been rea
ched. If you would like to be put on the reserve list for the next worksho
p please email Chris Hall (chris.hall@synchrotron.org.au)\n\nThe purpose o
f the workshop is to increase familiarity with the techniques for collecti
ng and processing data from the IMBL.\n\nDuring these two days we will ma
ke presentations and run tutorial sessions covering all operations\, fro
m setting up the beam line\, collecting data\, to reconstructing and vi
sualising CT data on IMBL.\n\nIn the mornings a series of talks will exp
lain the principles. Hands-on practical sessions in the afternoons will a
llow you to practice IMBL CT work-flows using your own\, or demonstration
data sets. Sessions will be run by Synchrotron and CSIRO staff.\n\nOn the
first day there will be an opportunity to visit the beamline.\n\nDay 1:
Takes you through the components of the beam line and the principles of co
mputed tomography. This will be followed by descriptions of the interfaces
\, and how we run a CT scan on IMBL. Once data has been collected the man
agement of data will be explained including remote access and transfer. F
irst level processing including reconstruction of 3-D volume data cubes fr
om raw data will be demonstrated. The new ASCI compute cluster will be us
ed and its use for processing IMBL data demonstrated. A practical session
in the afternoon will allow delegates to practice using their own\, or our
provided training data.\n\nDay 2: Once simple reconstruction is complete
\, visualisation is the next step in the process.Processing of large amoun
ts of data using scripts will be described. 3-D visualisation will be exp
lained\, using the tools available on the ASCI Compute Desktop. A new ses
sion will be introduced\, where experienced Users will describe their expe
riments and experiences on IMBL.  A second practical session after lunch
will allow for practice and questions.\n\nWorkshop topics will include:\
n\n\n	Practical considerations for mounting and moving samples\n	How to ch
oose the best x-ray energy\n	Avoiding artefacts in the reconstructed data\
n	Presenting CT data through segmentation and animation\n\n\nRegistration\
n\n\n	Includes a light lunch\, morning and afternoon teas. Supper on Monda
y evening.\n	Access to all workshop materials\n\n\nAccomodation and tra
vel assistance\n\n\n	Accomodation will be made available at the AS guest h
ouse. This will be at no cost\, for registered interstate and country Vict
oria participants only.\n	Other participants may book guest house accommod
ation at their own expense.\n	To book a room please click on the Guesthou
se link.\n\n\nWhat you will need to provide\n\nAccess to the IMBL filestor
e and ASCI computer is through a web page interface\, Please bring along y
our own laptop/tablet for this. If for some reason you are not able to do
this we may be able to provide a laptop. Please let us know during registr
ation if you would like to book one.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you at
the Australian Synchrotron in March...\n\nChris Hall\, Anton Maksimenko\,
